What a great (Greyt!) day we had with the new
Greyhound walking group
Greyhound Walking West Yorkshire! Organised by Rob who very kindly
got in touch with us through Facebook, we went for a stroll around St
Ives in Bingley and watched our dogs have the best time ever! Shame we
can't let them all off and let them run around, eh?
28/02/2008 Fun at Scammonden Dam
Scammonden has rapidly become our fav
place for Wag Time - the gang themselves tell us it's their fav by how
excited we get close.
Last weekend we had an amazing chase
with 3 dogs including a Rottie puppy and a big German shepherd who use
to compete as a police dog. They might have had more tricks than Raja
and Kuri but my lot are still the fastest....
HERE's
a new movie of the gang playing at Scammonden.....

Dog Agility and the Petstop Party
Raja and Kuri went to MyPetStop's
annual Christmas Party. Didn't go myself but sounds like much wagginess.
Maya had some portraits taken of them you can see them
here.
Later, I took Raja in the freezing rain to Dog
Agility. Best thing about the agility classes to be honest is the chance
he gets to play with other doggies before hand - it's just wonderful to
see him running in the wide open spaces, leaving the others behind.
Today though, one dog called Alaska got close enough to bit him on the
bum. Naughty!

Had a wonderful day at the
Border Collie
centre chasing sheep around the field with a succession of different
border collies. What's interesting is how different the dogs are - even
though they're the same breed each has distinct personalities every bit
as much as a human being.
There's some videos of our day out
here,
here and
here.
Sun 7th October
Start of Dog Agility. Raja loved it -
much wag time and running round though he's always frustrated that you
can't let him off the lead to show off how fast he is.
Surprise was though that even Kuri seemed
to be into it.
Check This
clip of our baby girl + Maya getting their respective backsides around
the obstacle course......
Sun 27th August
Halifax Dog Show. No Rosettes. Still,
that many dogs that it had to be fun for all concerned.....
I'm beginning to work out the difference
between a good looking dog and a show-winning dog - there's a lot in the
showing that I'm only just beginning to understand. Watch this
space.....
Tue 8th August
Get home to find an empty nectarine box
on the floor where formally there had been a full nectarine box in the
kitchen bench. Both dogs looking a bit sheepish. Found the "Full House"
next morning - vomit poo and wee downstairs. But it's not until the
dogwalker did the forensics on the poo the next day that she found
traces of kernal in one of their poo. KURI! Bad Girl!
Good time for all at the RSPCA dog show
in Huddersfield. Raja had a go on the Doggy Agility course. He's a
natural. Kuri also had a go. She's a ninny. But we love her. In a
hapless, un co-ordinated way....
Raja on the Bale Scurry race (over some
bales of hay stacked twice): Goes like greased lightening. Gutted we
only came 4th. Kuri on the Bale Scurry: Completely disinterested until
the hurdles are lowered. Goes on to come 3rd - in the SMALL DOG class.
There's some puppies somewhere demanding an enquiry....
Kuri also got the "special" award for
"special" dogs in the Sporting dogs category. Raja didn't win most
hansom dog which frankly is a travesty....
Wed 6th June
Finally got around to putting our holiday
snaps online and though I'd post
THIS PHOTO of our girl 1 hour into her first Monro walk - that
dog's got some walking potential!
Tue 5th June
Had some serious madness today - Kuri:
Slow, plods along, knackered old thing. You can let her off her lead
'cause she's not going anywhere right? Until she sees a DUCK. Today she
saw a whole team of them and took off, running down the river! Hilarious
- scary though since there's no way to get her back from one of those
moods..... Anyway, she ended up on the wrong side of the river and got a
bit scared.
Mon 4th June
I'd like to think our Kuri was smart
enough to take a shortcut or too in her time as an athlete like
THIS ONE.....
Sun 3rd June
On the way back from a charming weekend
in Yeovil, stumbled across the
Heaven's Gate Rescue
Centre who were having their open day dog fair. What Fun! More
wagginess than you can wag a waggy tail at. over 200 dogs by my
reckoning and all for a good cause.
2-9th May
Super holiday with Raja and Kuri (and
Maya - but then I knew it would be a super holiday with her.....). Raja
we know can cope with a bit of a break because we've done it before with
him but Kuri was very pleasing - especially on her first day when she
was finally goaded into chasing Raja - seeing her run like this was
gladdening.
Anyway, on the principal that ANYTHING is funny when sped
up and put to Benny Hill music (even
The Passion of the Christ),
here's our holiday vid:
Heaven is: When your two dogs wee
straight away when you take them out at night.
Hell is: When your greyhound eats the toe of her rubber chicken and does
a yellow sick on the ONLY bit of the carpet she hasn't previously
ruined......
Mon 26th March
Caught this clip of Raja and Kuri playing
with their current fav toy - the Rubber Chicken....
Sun 25th March
Took the
Frederick Family Pack for a walk on the Yorkshire Moors with our friends
Suzie and Stephie. Interesting - When I was walking with Kuri out of
site of Raja, he was apparently terribly distressed that the Pack Leader
had gone away - how touching! As per usual everyone we pass stops to
tell us how good looking our doggies are....
Sat 17th March
Kuri goes to
the vet to see if there's a reason why she's weeing on the carpet all
the time. The vet means going through Pets at Home superstore. It's Dog
Heaven! Snacks, Toys, things to chase! Less fun for the person trying to
stop her having the maddest shopping spree ever. Here's some movies of
our girl shopping:
Anyway, nothing wrong with her says the
vet so we know why she wees on the carpet.
Because she wants to.
Sun 11th March
Kuri eats a whole kilo bag of brown sugar
and spends the rest of the day throwing it back up again. Clever Girl!
Sat 10th March
Jenny's birthday but of course we can't
leave our pack behind so all 4 of us head down the real ale pub where we
spend 4 hours discussing how wonderful they are whilst the dogs scrounge
for any crisps, snacks, and beer they can get their noses in.
